AW18/19 Tradeshows: Premier Vision Paris
We are two months into AW17 and already the AW18/19 season has begun with the top fabric mills debuting their latest fabric innovations. Here are our top 4 directions for next season.
Super fluid viscose jerseys, silks and lamés offer advanced fluidity and in some cases, lightness. Metallic and lustrous finishes were particularly key here, creating a futuristic aesthetic that will inspire many. Colours focused on silvers, rich, wine purples and acidic greens with plisse finishes adding to the futuristic feel.
Marshmallow soft fabrics included wispy, pilled wools, teddy bear fleeces, chubby corduroy and over brushed cottons suggesting that next autumn/ winter the air of Hygge and being cosy is still a key fabric trend. Tactility and soft handles look to inspire outerwear and loungewear garments, alongside knitted denims for everyday comfort.
Velvets and chenilles continue to come through, with burn outs, laces and jacquards offering further interest to develop these luxe, plush looks. The velvet trend seems to show no signs of slowing down!
Distorted designs and noisy textures come through in the form of bouclé checks, salt & pepper loopbacks and skewed prints – including reworked brainteaser checks. This direction proves the perfect update for core, non-prints come next winter.
