Kingpins Spring Summer ’19 Denim
We have only just stepped out of Spring Summer 17 and already the denim industry is onto Spring Summer 19! Kingpins’ Spring Summer ’19 kicked off the Summer 2019 tradeshows, showcasing the latest denim developments that are set to be trending 18 months from now.
Denim Washes – Ecru and Lilac Blues
Neutral tones were growing in presence at the show with ecru being the key driver. White wash denim has yet to make a come back as brands and denim mills favour organic tones of ecru which offer a more worn in, natural aesthetic.
Lilac cast blue tones update mid wash and light blue indigos, giving them a brighter and more casual feel.
Denim Finishes – Orange Peel and Bleached
Orange peel denim has been a growing trend over recent seasons however it can sometimes be so subtle it’s hard to spot. Orange peel is a subtle acid wash that creates an authentic vintage-look. This texture was seen across mid and light indigo tones.
Snowy, bleached washes continue to come through in effects that range from subtle gradients to more extreme mottled looks. Perfect for casual holiday pieces and surf-inspired denim looks also featured heavily at Kingpins’ Spring Summer ’19.
Denim Details – Mena Influenced
Kingpins’ Spring Summer ’19 also touched heavily on Middle Eastern and North African inspired surface decoration included repeat border embroidery, tassel trims and patchwork detailing. These beautiful embroideries and patchwork details can be used across denim silhouettes for an ethnic-inspired finish.
