Knitwear – not just for Christmas

It’s the second week of February , S/S 17 collections are launching and our hopes that the Winter is coming to an end are being crushed as temperatures hover between 1 and 3° in the UK. Seasons are becoming less definable, blurring into one with glimmers of Summer and High Winter peaks resulting in transitional periods becoming the foundation to the year. Knitwear, which has long been stereotyped as a winter staple, is quickly becoming a 12 month core business with advancements in fabric and yarn blends contributing to this. One of the most dominant trends on the rise is the summer cable knit, a technique traditionally used for winter garments however, pure cotton and polymide blends allowing for a slightly cooler wear all year round.

Top Tip: Have a “buy now, wear now” attitude to your knitwear range and ignore the industry seasonal calendar.
