Miami Fashion Week

Miami is slowly but surely becoming one of the World’s fashion capitals representing a cultural design gateway between North and South America. With a handful of innovative designers, the shows were experimental, exciting and a welcomed addition to the SS18 Resort international line-up. Here are the key takeaways from the week.

New-Eighties

Inspiration was evidently drawn from the 80’s with exaggerated shoulders, vinyl, metallics and vibrant colour layered on top of each other for eye-catching styles. Shoulder statements look set to continue as a key product trend with the key styles being the one shoulder and the (romantically named) leg of mutton.

Sparkle and Shine

Fabric interest was in abundance with glitter, liquid metallics and embellishment shimmering down the runways. Modern silhouettes such as hoodies and sweat dresses were given a glitter makeover creating stand-out, memorable pieces that suggest a little sparkle keeps casual, playful.

Beach Ready Swimwear

Miami is famous for its beach scene which was not forgotten by designers who took it upon themselves to dive into the swim scene. All types of swimmers were catered for from surf suitable bikinis and shorts to embellished pool party pieces.
