Pitti Uomo A/W: 18/19
It may have been a cold, overcast day but that did not dampen the atmosphere at Pitti Uomo, the most dapper tradeshow in the menswear calendar. Here are our key trends from the show which look set to make a commercial impact for AW18/19.
Dressed Up Puff
Puffer jackets have been gaining momentum over two winter seasons now and the trend shows no sign of slowing down. Newness was seen in length and quilt stitching, however, some designers were seen pushing the design boundaries with this padded look. Puffer fabrications were seen across scarves, gloves and trousers for a head-to-toe puff look.
Corduroy gets a bad reputation when compared to its’ fabric peers, forever to be seen as a traditional fabrication, reminiscent of the 70’s fashion era. Corduroy across different wale widths was a strong fabric direction at Pitti Uomo, seen across silhouettes such as overcoats, shirts, 5 pocket trousers and blazers. This fabric was set to reinvent itself being seen in printed designs and as a key texture across the seasons looks.
Borg Textured Details
Teddybear textures have been a fabric trend that started gaining momentum in the youth market with a street aesthetic.The brands showing at Pitti Uomo continued to demonstrate new ways of updating and reinventing this fabric in commercial executions. Graphics, yokes, pockets and linings were seen across brands at the show in neutral and coloured tones.
